Volunteering at SCANAO

A breakdown for local and international volunteers

Have you always wanted to volunteer where you are really needed and, at the same time, experience a culture and environment very different from your own? If so, SCAN Adventist Orphanage is the place for you.

What volunteer opportunities are available?

1. Helping out when staff at the orphanage need a break (office work, cooking, etc.)
2. Assisting in construction on our building projects and establishing new programs
3. Teaching English, math, Bible study, science, career trades, and mentoring
4. Photography, videography, and marketing for the orphanage
5. Prayer, evangelism, and helping with tent crusades
6. Behavioral therapy and public health

International Volunteers

The cost

All costs are your responsibility (you may need to do fundraising on your own to assist with your costs). (Upon approval of the board of directors, you will be eligible for a tax receipt for the money you pay for air fare, immunization, and entry visa.)

• The air fare to Kenya is approximately $1600.
• The immunization assessment, required needles, and malaria pills are approximately $200.
• Extra health insurance
• Food in Kenya: approximately $50 per week

• Maasai Mara National Reserve ( www.maasai.com)
• Nairobi National Park
• Lake Nakuru (home of all wild birds)
• Kisumu Impala Sanctuary is located in Kisumu, on the banks of Lake Victoria.
• Mombasa,on the shores of the Indian Ocean, has some of the best beaches in Africa.
